So beautiful. If a garden could be turned into a word, I think this would be it.

I came across it as the capital of Cyrus’ Persia, and then I looked for its origin and meaning. It’s uncertain, but this modern version comes from Greek, which may derive from Pâthragâda (Old Persian), which could mean “The Garden of Pars. Full circle then!

Addendum: I found another source stating the meaning as “Camp of the Persians”
